_ -0THE'OPENING CEREMONY. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. ■ LONDON, May 8: Large crowds witnessed the opening of the Greater Britain Exhibition by the Duke of Cambridge. LONDON, May 9. The mineral-display of the Greater Britain Exhibition by Victoria, Queensland and West Australia is an excellent one. The Agents-General and many colonists were present at the opening ceremony. Mr Taverner, Sir Andrew Clarke and Sir H., Tozer welcomed the Duke of Cambridge, who visited the respective courts, complimenting each. The Duke-of Cambridge, who presided at the luncheon, expressed a hope that these displays would have the effect of -widening the interest in the colonies, arid cementing the bonds of union. Mr Taverner, in thank, ing the Duke of Cambridge, hoped that Mr Chamberlain would yet see his way to establish a united joint ownership of the Pacific cable.
