REDUCTION OF PARES.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I quite agree with “ Traveller ’* regarding Christchurch and Clifton (not Watsonville) tram fares. To the propertyholders at Clifton the fares are such that the majority of settlers could not live there and come up to their work every day. I have, on different occasions, had to pay Sd to go on to Sumner, making the fares Is 3d. It is quite time the Christchurch Tramway Company ran the trams, both as to time and fares, to suit the public, and not for their own personal benefit. There should also be two stop-ping-places mentioned in the time-table, one at the Fines and one at the tank or at the cutting. The name Watsonville was altered by the Sumner Borough Council to Clifton, and should be at once changed in the Christchurch Tramway Company time-tables. —I am, &c. CLIFTON.
