MINING.
The bottle of specimens from the Homeward Bound (Paparoa) claim, sent to the Lyttelton Times Ollice, is now in the.hands of Mr A, J. Howell, a shareholder in the claim. The stone, which is exceedingly rich, may be seen by anyone wishing to inspect it. Mr Fenwick supplies the following information regarding the return of the Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company published yesterday“ Taking the value of copper at <£49 per ton, and silver and gold at 2s and .£4 per ounce respectively, the results give, after deducting charges, 17s per ton. The approximate net profit is JR 14s 6d per ton ■of ore treated.”
