OLD AGE PENSIONS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— Referring to “ Over Three Score and Ten’s ” letter, I wish to refute his ideas about any official Bumbledom in regard to the acceptance or allowance of the “ Old Brigade’s ” claims. Mr Martin, tho deputy-registrar for tho old-age pension district of Christchurch, is most courteous, obliging and attentive, and one who has the true interests of “Tho Brigade” at heart. Tireless in the execution of his onerous duties, he receives all alike, and helps those in difficulties. The solo idea seems to be to assist the applicants (now some 470 in number) in their claims, and thfa> done, in a most loyal manner, to carry out the Premier’s promise to which his Government is pledged, viz., the establishment of a pension fund for aged persons, and the referendum to bo applied to the settlement of vexed public questions.—l am, &c., MICHAEL HART.
