MARKET RETORTS.
AMBEELEY. Nearly 12,000 sheep were yarded at the Ambei’ley Saleyards yesterday. The bulk of them were merino ewes, of which several large station lines were on offer, including a very nice lot of about 2000 soundmouthed sheep. Ewes also predominated in cross-brecls, many of them being past their prime. The attendance was good, and considering the large sale of Toviotdale sheep held in the district last week, and the advanced state of the season for breeding ewes business was fairly satisfactory. Amongst the sales were 2000 sound-mouthed merino ewes at 4s,_ 500 cross-bred store lambs at 5s 6d, 500 failingmouthed merino ewes at 2s lid, 520 sixtootli cross-bred ewes at 8s 5d to 9s. Prices realised generally were—Freezing wethers 10s to 10s sd, fat cross-bred ewes 7s 6d to 8s 6d, do mixed sexes 8s 6d to 9s 2d, fat lambs 8s to 9s 4d, two-tooth breeding ewes 8s to 9s, four-tooth do 7s 6d to 9s 4d, good store lambs 6s to 7s 6d, backward sorts 3s 7d to 5s 6d, two, four and six-tooth ewes 7s to 7s 6d, full-mouth do 6s to 7s 6d, aged do 3s to ss, sound merino ewes 3s 6d to 4s, aged do 2s to 2s 9d, crossbred boilers 2s to 3s, merino do Is to 2s ; good store pigs 13s to 15s, breeding sows 30s to 355.
