TEACHERS’ APPOINTMENTS.
ro THE EDITOR. Sir, —I wish to thank “Hopeful” for drawing public attention to the present system adopted by the Board regarding appointments. I trust that “ Hopeful ” will not be disappointed in the confidence he places in our three returning members ; and I sincerely think the members of the teaching profession would consider it a great favour if the Board would endeavour to introduce some promotion system. We should then bo encouraged to do our utmost in the ' hope of some return. I join “ Hopeful ” in appealing to some abler pen to take the matter up; some of the head-masters in the leading schools, or could it nob be considered by our Institute ? It seems hardly fair that many good teachers should bo called upon to spend the greater part of their life in a school in the backwoods, while inexperienced teachers are appointed to good positions in the larger schools. Is it not only fair that we should all take our turn ? I trust that some of the Board members will give their opinions on this matter publicly through your columns. —I am, &c., ONE OF THE PROFESSION.
