CHRISTCHURCH CYCLING CLUB.
A special general meeting of the Christchurch Cycling Club was held last evening at the Club’s rooms, Cashel Street. Mr W. E. Thompson occupied the chair, and there was a good attendance of The principal business was the consideration of a proposal to hold a race meeting on Good Friday. A letter was read from Mr A. C. Duff, of Sydney, regarding the suggested visit of a team from Australia, and° pointing out that considerable difficulty would be experienced in getting together a good team to leave Australia, as" the sport is at present in a prosperous and flourishing state on the other side of, the Tasman Sea. Lesna, the French champion, was expected in New Zealand very shortly. On the motion of Mr Henwood, seconded by Mr Harris, it was unanimously decided to hold a race meeting on Good Friday. It was resolved to secure Lesna’s attendance if lie should bo in the colony then, and the final arrangements for the meeting were left with the committee. It was also decided not to pay prize money pro rata should the meeting fall short in point of attendance, but to pay out in full. Mr Pannell moved and Henwood seconded that all new members joining from the present date should ho admitted for the rest of the season at half-price. A committee of six was appointed to carry out amusements in the club-rooms during the coming winter months. Messrs Boyd, Cox, Mably, Thompkins, Williams and Frost were appointed members of the committee.
