FIRES.

[Per Press Association.! LONDON, Feb. 5. An extensive fire occurred in the ship building yards of the Fairfield Ship-building Company on the Clyde. A considerable quantity of machinery was destroyed, and five thousand hands were thrown out of work. A carpenter’s workshop in Brittan Street, Linwood, containing tools, &c., was desstroyed by fire yesterday morning. The building, which was insured for ,£ls in the Royal Exchange Office, was owned by Mr Henry Lough.
