ISSUE £500,000, Part of £1,000,000 authorised to he raised under an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, and intituled ‘'The Aid to Public Works and Land Settlement Act, 1896.” MINIMUM PRICE OF ISSUE, £IOO PEE CENT. The Colonial Treasurer invites Tenders for £500,000 New Zealand Government Three and-one-half per cent. Debentures, representing £IOOO, £SOO, £2OO and £I.OO respectively, payable to Bearer. These Debentures are secured on the Public Ecvenues of the Colony. The Principal will ‘be repaid at par not earlier than ten years nor later than twenty-five years from the 21st December, 1896, the Government reserving to itself the right of redemption {by conversion or otherwise) on the 15th February or 15th August, 1907, or in any year after-the year 1907, upon giving six months' notice in the Government “Gazette,” and in at least four newspapers published in the Colony, of its inteution todo-so. Both Principal and Interest will be made payable at the Treasury, Wellington, New Zealand. Dividends, represented by Coupons attached to the Debentures, will be payable at the Treasury, Wellington, on the 15th February and on the 15tk August in each year during the currency of the Loan, The issue-price will he at the rate of £IOO in money for every £IOO expressed in Debentures (below-which no tender will he accepted), payable as follows : 5 per cent deposit on application; 45 „ on Monday, the 21 st December, 1896; 25 ~ on Monday, the 18th .Xanuary, 1837;. 25 ~ on Monday, the 15th February, 1897; Payments may be made in lull at any time on or after the 21st December, XB96,.and prior to the 15th February, 1897, at a discount at the rate of one pound ten shillings per centum pemmmn. Sealed Tenders, addressed to the Secretary to the Treasury, Government Buildings, WelSngtOß, accompanied with the 5 per cant deposit, will bo received up to noon of Monday, 7th December, 1896, when they will he opened in the presence of a Committee, consisting of the Colonial Treasurer,. the Controller and Auditor-General, and Mr Henry Kemher, F.1.A., N.Z., and allotment willforthwith he made. If cheques are lodged with a Tender, they must be drawn upon a Bank in Wellington, and be marked by such Bank as “good”- for fourteen days- Cheques issued by-a Bonk need not he-eo-marfced. Tenders may be for the -wholeor any part of the Loan,.and must state what amount of money will he given for every £IOO of the Debentures tendered for. Tenders must be for-even .hundreds of pounds sterling, and at prices which are multiplies of. sixpence. Tenders-at different prices must be <m separate forms. The nominal amountof Debentures tendered for must bewritten-onthe-ontside of the Tender, Should the tenders received exceed in the aggregate the amount required, a pro rata-distri-bution will hamade. In case of partial allotment, the balance of the-deposit will be applied towards the first instalment. In case of default in the payment of any instalment at its proper date, the-depositand instalments previously paid will be liable to forfeiture. When no allotment is made, the-deposit will be returned. The first instalment and all subsequent payments may bepaid at any Branch of the Bank of New Zealand within the Colony, to the credit of the Public Account, or at the Treasury, Wellington, not later than the / sevoral dates previously mentioned. Scrip Certificates (with Goupoaattached for the • payment of Interest for the brokeupenodfromth* 21st December, 18S6, to the 15th February, 1897), will be issued, to bo exchanged for the Debenturebonds, with Interest-coupons attached. The first six months* interest, calculated upon the nominal amount of the Debenture, will he payable on the 15th August, 1897.
