CRICKET.
A match was played on the Midland ground yesterday, between the Bakers and Hairdressers, and resulted in a win for the Bakers by 42 runs. Petrie, Chianell, Brunaden, Prebble and Gibbs played best for the winners, and G. Deal, Rogers and Bryant for the losers. A match was played between the D.I.C. and the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association at Lancaster Park yesterday, and resulted in a win for the latter, who scored 190 runs against 46 for the D.I.C. The highest scorers for the winners were—-F. Gee 35, C. B. Ridley 32, and T. M’Dowell 28; and for the losers— Donahue 10, Malcolm 9, and Thompson 6.
A match was played at Rakaia on Wednesday afternoon between married end single members of the club, and resulted in a win for the former on the first innings by 45 runs. Scores Married 73 (Macdonald 40 not out and Moreton 12); Single 28, and 68 for the loss of four wickets (R. Sharp 22, Laraman 14 and Hardy 12). A match was played yesterday at Lancaster Park between the Hardware team and the employes of H. Puhrmann, and resulted in a draw slightly in favour of the latter. Scores : Fuhrmann’s 122 (Smith 36, Marshall 34 not out, Cusack 17, Richards 14 and Reay 11) ; Hardware 100 for nine wickets (Truscott 55 and Prankish 34). Richards (four wickets) and Cusack (three wickets) for Pnhrmanu’s and Frankish (six wickets) for the Hardware were the most successful bowlers.
The following will represent the M.G.C. President’s Cup team No. 1 v. United No. 1, on Hagley Park —Barge, Spencer, M’Guire, Russell, Ryan, W. Ashby, Fraser, Bennett, Lavery, Mansell and Gerard. No. 2 v. College, on College ground— Barry, White, Winstanley, Robertson, Mitchell (2), Simpson, Heard, Faulkner, Yerdon and Campbell; emergencies— Freeman, Bates, Francis, Rhodes and Hubbard. In future all teams of the above club will be posted in the pavilion on Thursday nights. The following teams will play for Sydenham and Addington United Cricket Club on Saturday :—President’s Cup team v. Warwick House, at Sydenham Park— Cullen, Freeman, Lawrence, T. Newcombe, O’Brien, Robinson, Rowe, Smith, W. H. H. Samuels, Waddell and Young. A team v. Lin wood Cricket Club, at Sydenham Park —Avrey, Conatable, Tregear, Wiltshire, Cana van, Mtnifie, Taifc, Roes, F. Rowe, M’Gallan (captain), Robson and Hall. B team v. St Saviour’s Cricket Club, at Sydenham Park —Davis, Hobbs, Dewe, Johnson, Wise, Coumbe, H- Laurence, Schmidt, Halley, Gasson, Merriman (captain), Partridge and Wilson. The following will represent St Albans on Saturday President’s Cup team v. High School, at Hagley Park—Ansley, Chapman, Chaplin, Eldridge, Hardy, Newton, Renton, Smith, Taylor, C. R. Williams and West. Reserve team v. Lancaster Park Reserve, at St Albans ground—Allsop, Farquhar, Gerard, Hasell, Lewis, Edmonds, Pearce, Stubberfield, Wallburton, C. Williams and Winstone.
