The following circular-letter has bean addrecssd by the Progressive Liberal Association to the members of both Houses of Parliament
By direction of the Progressive Liberal Association, I have the honour to forward for your consideration its proposal for an old-age pension scheme. Though you may disagree with the details, I trust you will support the principle, and that you will render the movement your best aid during the coming session of Parliament. That the people desire this reform there is ample evidence of. Our Association has communicated with the editor of every newspaper in the colony (145) on the subject. Many have adversely criticised the details, but so far we have only been able to discover one that has opposed the establishment of an old age pension schema. Every political and labour organisation in the coloriy heartily approves of the principle. We have communicated with So. In conclusion, our Association trusts that tho represenaatives of the people will rule iu this matter, and sot the Cabinet, as was the case last session. refused an opportunity to discuss a special committee’s report on so important a question as old age pensions—truly, a pretty spectacle under a democratic Government!
