PIRATES FOOTBALL CLUB.
The second annual general meeting of the Pirates Football Club waa held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Addington, last evening. There was an attendance of about sixtyfive, and Mr W. J. Alpe, Vice-President, occupied tbe chair. The Honorary Secretary, Mr A. B. Menzies, read the annual report, which congratulated the Club on its continued success. Tho number of members on the roll was 116. Regret waa expressed at the resignation of the Captain, Mr A. Beck, who had been transferred to Dunedin. The First Fifteen had,played nine matches, winning three, losing six, scoring 28 points against 61. The Second Fifteen played 14 matches, winning 8, losing 4 and drawing 2 ; points, for 105, against 57. The Third Fifteen played 6 matches, winning 3 and losing 3; points, for 23, against 62. Teams from the First and Second Fifteens competed in the seven-a-side tournament, bat without success. The receipts from all sources, including a credit balance of £1 19s Id from the previous year, amounted to £6llos 7d, and the expenditure to .£45 0s 6d, leaving a credit balance of £l6 10a Id. The assets were valued at £45 8s 7d, and there were no liabilities. The committee recommended that the incoming committee should consider the necessity of starting an accident insurance fund for playing members. The report and. balancesheet were adopted. Tbe election of officers resulted as follows : Patrou, Mr M. Lewin; president, Mr W. J. Alpe; vice-presidents, Messrs H. Haarfield, H. G. Elliott, E. J. Whiting, G. Thomson, W. J. Larcombe, S. Knight and tho Rev W. S. Bean; honorary treasurer, Mr J. Crummy; honorary secretary, Mr A. Young; general committee, Messrs A. B. Menzies, J. D. Taylor, F. Larcombe. A. Hooper andW. Anderson; custodian, Mr A. B. Menzies; delegates to the Canterbury Rugby Union, Messrs E. J. Whiting, A. B. Menzies, A. Hooper and A. Young; auditors, Messrs F. Shaokleton and W. P. Anderson. Mr J. D. Taylor _ moved—- “ That the club’s delegates ba instructed to vote in favour of the Canterbury Rugby Union affiliating with the New Zealand Rugby Union.” Mr J. Hooper seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. It was decided to enter a team for the Thursday Flag competition. The following new members were elected: —Messrs R. Mathesoa, H. Da Mans, F. M’Murray, A. Simpson, H. Hardingham, G. M’Donald, H. Butcher, W. Loveday, J. Dewsbury, R. Heasi, A. M’Donald, A. Wilson, J. Marriner, F. Noble, N. Duncan and G. Downing. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr A. Young, for bis assistance in getting the club’s flag, to the retiring officers, and to all those ladies and gentlemen who had assisted the club in various ways during the past year. A vote of thanks to the Chairman closed the meeting.
