SUMNER EXCURSIONISTS.
The excursionists to Sumner on Tuesday evening by tram experienced several mishaps, and the hands of the clock were approaching midnight before the passengers of the last tram reached town. Upon turning the sharp curve at the Shag Rock, one of the cars of the first tram returning to town jumped the rails, and it was some little time before tbe tram could proceed. The second tram met with a similar mishap, but, the displaced car being very heavily loaded, it collapsed and sank on the roadside with, a broken axle. It took a considerable time to lift the car clear of the track, and then it was nob put far enough from the line, for the third tram ran into it and became locked. All ended well, however, and the mishaps only served to vary the trip. While at Sumner a miniature tidal wave washed the band out on the beach, and somewhat disconcerted several strollers. It waa a wave that rose several feet above tbe others, and ran up the beach twenty or thirty yards.
