CANTERBURY v. NEW SOUTH WALES.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib,— May I suggest that tickets for the above cricket match, admitting to the ground and the ground and pavilion, on the three days, be at once on sale at 2a 6d and 5s respectively. lam quite sure there are many enthusiastic admirers of cricket who would gladly thus support the game and benefit the Club by taking them beforehand, and run the risk of the match being finished in one or two days, or the weather preventing its being played on all three days. The same arrangements might bo made for the New South Wales v. New Zealand match. Supposing it happens that the match is finished in one or one and a half days, why should not a return match be at once commenced, for which, of course, the above tickets would be available ?—I am, &0., A LOVER OP CRICKET. TO THE EDITOE. Sir, —The forthcoming week in cricketing circles will be something tantamount to the great Canterbury week in England. Most .people will be on the qui vive and have something to say respecting the merits or demerits of the players. My object in writing is simply to suggest to the committee of management the following. If they want a financial success let them, by all means, adopt a sixpenny tariff to all parts of the ground. The pavilion and its enclosure excepted. If the proceeds do not amply recoup them for the venture and their manifested liberality towards tho public I should be very much mistaken. Times are not as they formerly were* The proverbial shilling is rather too high a figure for those who cannot really afford to pay that amount. Cheap entertainments and quick returns are becoming the order of the day, and if the management think fit to try the experiment I am confident they would have no reason to regret it.—l am, &c„ H.C.
