Educational. CANTERBURY COLLEGE. GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL. THE SCHOOL vill REOPEN on THURSDAY. Ist February. New jmpils must attend at 9.30 a.m. on Wednesday, 31st January. Lady Principal, MRS MACMILLAN BROWN, M.A., assisted by an efficient stall of teachers. The instruction will include not only the subjects of an ordinary High. School education, hut also such branches as are specially fitted for a practical life. English, Latin, French, German, Mathematics, Physical and Natural Science, History and Geography will he treated in such a way as to prepare for a University course. But if parents wish their daughters to receive only a general education they may (with the Lady Principal's sanction) select the subjects. The practical side'of the instruction will include Cooking, Needlework, Dress-cutting, Drawing and Shorthand. Besides these. Class Singing, Drill Calisthenics and Swimming will he taught all through the School. All Fees are Payable in Advance, PEES (including all subjects except instrumental music) —i‘s Ss per term for girls over twelve years of age; £i 4s per term for girls under twelve years of ago. THE EDUCATION BOARD OP THE DISTRICT OP NORTH CANTERBURY hereby publicly notifies that, in pursuance of the power conferred by the Education Act, 1887. it has resolved to FORM A NEW SCHOOL DISTRICT to be called HORNBY, and to include in it parts of the School Districts of Riccarton and Templeton. The three new districts of Hornby, Riccarton and Templeton will bo bounded as hereinafter described. The Board hereby calls PUBLIC MEETINGS of the householders in the three above-mentioned districts, to be held on MON DAT, the 22nd day of January, at eight o’clock in the evening at the Riccarton and Templeton schoolrooms, and at Mr T. N. Grange’s house, Hornby, respectively, for the purpose of Electing Committees for such districts. The Board further directs that the first meeting of such nowly-eleetod Committees shall he held in the place appointed for the election upon the same evening. The Board further, in accordance with the provisions of the School Committees Election Act, 1891, calls on the householders iu the new district of Hornby to send in to Mr T. N. Grange, on the householders in the district of Riccarton to send iu to Captain Garsia, and upon tho householders in the district of Templeton to send in to Mr S. Bailey, not later than eight o’clock in tho evening of MONDAY, the 15fch day of January, tho names of persons, being resident householders, nominated hy them for election to servo upon tho Committee. Every such nomination must be signed by the pro poser and by the Candidate, and must bo in the" form sot forth in the schedule to tho Act, or to tho effect thereof. Commencing at the easternmost corner of Rural Section 1677, thence along tho north-east boundary of Sections 1077 and 2113, and the northern boundary of the lattpr section to e the south-east corner of Section 821; thence along the south-east and north-east boundaries of that section and the Hornby Junction road, to the southern boundary of i'aldhurst district, being the south-east corner of Section 1155 ; thence along the south-western boundary of the latter section to the north-east corner of Section 1474; thenco along the eastern boundary of latter section and Sections 2063 and 2438, to the south-east corner of the latter section; thenco westerly along the soutn-western boundary of the last-named section to its south-west corner; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of Section 2565 to the Waimakariri old river-bed; thence along the old river-bed to the northernmost comer of Section 8472; thenco along the road west of Section 8472 to the southwest corner of Sec tion 13501 ; thence along the southern boundaries of that section and Section 300 and Reserve 331 to the north-eastern boundary of Prebhleton district, being the northernmost corner of Section 3054; thence south-easterly along the old river-bed to the Springs Road; and thence along tho Springs Road mid the South Road to the commencing point. BOUNDARIES OP THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OP RICCARTON. ■Commencing at the north-east corner of Section 9; thenco by the Town Beit to tho River Avon; thence by that river to Blair’s Creek; • thence by said creek to the road intersecting Section 12; thence hy that road to the River Avon; thence norths westerly hy that river to Graham’s Road; thence hy Graham’s Road to the Fendalton Road; thence north - westerly hy tho latter road to the Kaiapol Junction Road; thenco by said road to the Harewood Road by Riccarton; thence hy that road to the north - east corner of Section 1155; thence hy the eastern boundary of said section; and Section 1490 to the south-east comer of latter section; thence along the north-east and south-east boundaries of Section 821 to the south-east corner of that section; thence southeasterly along the road forming the northeastern boundaries of Sections 2113 and 1677 to its junction with the South Road ; thenco south-westerly along the South and Springs Roads to the Waimakariri old river-hod; thence south-easterly by the south-western side of the old river-bed to Section 952; thence hy the north-west boundaries of Sections 952 and 867 to the northernmost corner of the hitter section; thence by the road north of Section 9516 and. north-west of 2533 to the road south-west of Section 1246; thence hy the said road to the westernmost corner of the latter section; thence hy the western and northern boundaries of said section to tho north-east corner thereof; thence hy n straight line to the Middleton Railway Station; thenco hy the railway to the north-east boundary of Section 128; thence north-easterly by the north-west boundaries of Sections 128, 118 and 113, and tho northern boundary of Section 9 to the commencing point. Commencing at the intersection of the southwestern side of the old river-bed by the rood north-west of Section 1768; thence north-westerly along tho old river-bed to the Pound Road; thence along that road to tho southern boundary of the Yaldhurst School District; thence along that houndary to whore Healey’s Road is intersected hy Dawson’s and Waimakariri Roads; thenco iu a straignt line to the southernmost comer of Section 12720; thence south-easterly following the road hounding Section 5835 to the north-eastern boundary of the Broadfleld School District, and following along that boundary and the boundary of the Prebhleton School District to the commencing point. The Board hereby calls PUBLIC MEETINGS of the householders iu the two above-mentioned districts, to he held on MONDAY, the 22nd day of January, at eight o’clock in the evening, at the respective schoolrooms, for tho purpose of electing Committees for auoh districts. The Board further directs that the first meeting of each School Committee shall ho held in the schoolroom immediately after tho election The Board further, in accordance with the provisions of the School Committees Election Act, 1891, calls upon the householders in the new School District of Lyttelton to send in to Mr J. T. Brice, Lyttelton, and upon the householders in the new district of Lvttelton West to send into Mr John Thompson, of Voelus Road, Lyttelton, on or before Monday, the 15th day of January, the names of persons, being resident householders, nominated by them for election to serve upon the Committee.
