NEW PLYMOUTH, August 8. Wallath, the highwayman, escaped foots gaol this morning. He scaled a wall twelve feet high, and was fired at by the gaoler and Dr O'Carroll, but they did noij hit the prisoner; who made for the river, where he was caught by the men working there. Mr Harold Thomson, who caught the highwayman, was to-night presented with a gold watch and chain and aq address by the inhabitants of New Plymouth. Mr Holmes, who assisted) Thomson, received a diamond ring.
