The Union Steamship Company’s steamer Hauroto, Uaptain Neville, arrived , from Sydney, vi& Wellington, yesterday forenoon. She left Sydney wharf on August 29, at 2 p.m.* and cleared the Heads at 2.40 p.m.; breasted Farewell Spit light on Sept 3 at 9.20 a.in., and reached Wellington at 8 p.m. same day, , She left again at 5.20 p.m. on Saturday, and arrived as above. She experienced light, variable winds, with smooth sea and fine weather, to Farewell Spit, thence fresh north-west winds, with moderate sea, to Wellington, followed by light, variable winds * and dense fog to arrival. The steamer Omapere arrived from Dunedin, vi 4 Timaru and Akaroa, yesterday at noon, having met with thick, foggy weather along thouoaat. The steamer Fiado arrived from Newcastle yesterday forenoon. She left the New South Wales port at 11.30 a.m. on August 29, and passed Farewell Spit at S p.m. on Sept. 4, and Capo Campbell at 11 p.m. on' Saturday. Thick fog was encountered down the coast, and the vessel brought up off the Heads at 6 a.m. yesterday, owing to the dense fog. Fine weather, with light north to east winds, with smooth sea, was experienced throughout the voyage. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s R.M.S.S. Rimutaka left No. 7 wharf at 6 a.m. on Saturday, and anchored in the stream until about 11 a.m., when she took her departure. She takes a full cargo of produce and a number of passengers.
