VITAL STATISTICS.

TPer Press Association. - ] “ WELLINGTON, Auqust 14. The vital statistics for July show the total number of births and deaths and the proportion of deaths per 1000 of the population to have been as follow :

The total births in the above boroughs amounted to 470, against 417 in June, an increase of 53. The deaths in July were 175, a increase of 1 on the number in June. Of the total births, males contributed 96 and females 79. Forty-seven deaths were of children under five years of ago, being 26'53 per cent of the whole number ; 38 of theao were under one year. In Ihe four principal boroughs— Auckland, 'Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin—ihe births in July were 245, against 224 in June, an increase of 21; and the deaths amounted to 113, against 111 in June.
