IRISH AFFAIRS. [Special to Press Association.] [Received August 13, at 10.20 a.m.J LONDON, August 12. The Mayor of Portsmouth has sent invitations to several members of the French Cabinet to attend a banquet to be given to the officers of the French Squadron. E. M‘Affery, one of tho Invincibles, who was found guilty of participation in tho Phoenix Park murder, and sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment, has been released from gaol. Mr T. Harrington, M.P., Secretary of the National League,has announced that the funds are exhausted, and therefore the League is unable to continue its grants to evicted tenants. He alleges that the seceders from the Parnell party are responsible for the position of tho League. CALCUTTA, August 10. Those connected with tho native paper, Bungabasti, which published the article, “British Pule by Brute Force,” have been committed for trial. [Received August 13, at 7.30 p.m.] LONDON, August 12. Mr Parnell’s friends intend to stump England and Scotland in support of his leadership. Mr Holden, a Home Euler, was elected for "Walsall by a majority of 538 votes over Mr James, a Unionist. [Received August 14, at 1.1 S a.m.] August 13. Messrs Dillon and Justin M'Carthy propose to establish an evicted tenants’ fund.
