CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— l was much amused at the Chambers of Commerce, Christchurch and Invercargill, evincing so much interest in the wage-earners at their meetings over the present taxation Bills. One member in Christchurch seemed sorely distressed. Poor man, I wonder if he has yet recovered ! Seriously, do the gentlemen in question think for a moment that tho poor man does not know how to gauge their interest in his welfare ? Pshaw ! I can tell them working men are not so green as they are cabbage looking.—l am. &«., WAGE-EARNER. Fairlie Creek, August 9.
