SEDITION IN INDIA. [Received August 8, at 10.15 a;m.] LONDON, August 7. A special envoy from President Ealmaceda has arrived in England. The Duke of Rutland has received the Order of the Garter. It is reported that Lord Salisbury intends to pay a visit to Ulster. The Admiralty intends to spend .£2OOO in banqueting the officers and men of the French fleet at Portsmouth. Mr O’Brien disputes his debt to Lord Salisbury. The motion is' set down for hearing on Tuesday. CALCUTTA. August 6. The Indian Government has iusti. tuted prosecutions against several native newspapers for treasonable publications. The seditious character of the vernacular Press lately has been very marked. [Received August 9, at 6 p.m.j LONDON, August 8. The second division of the Mediterranean squadron at Alexandria is supposed to he connected with the alleged intention of the Sultan of Turkey to appoint a new Khedive for Egypt. The Marquis of Salisbury defers discussion on the question of the British evacuation of Egypt until November.
The Admiralty has ordered sir torpedo boats, capable of steaming twenty knots per hour.
