Replying to a communication from the Premier of New Zealand respecting the starving sealers on tho Macquarrie Islands, the Premier cabled that, if the report were true,notbing that could be done here would avail, as the worst would have happened before relief could arrive. The opinion is expressed that the sealers could subsist by catching rabbits and seals on the islands. [Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Dec. 20. Government has undertaken to despatch the steamer Kakanui from the Bluff on Dec. 24, to the relief of persons on the Macquarries.
