RIVER BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the South Waimakariri Eiver Board was held at 2 p.ro. yesterday ; present—Messrs W. Boag (Chairman), H. W. Peryman, H. Crooks, E. M. Taylor, P. Hill, and T. Wilson. The Overseer reported that there hadonly been one small flood during the month, which had done no damage to the works. He asked the Board to visit last year’s plantations, as the present had been a bad season for them. The poplars had done fairly well, but the willows had not thriven. A letter was read from the Linwood Town Board, asking permission to write off 11s lid rates they could not collect. The request was complied with. The Overseer’s report was received and adopted, but, it was not thought necessary to adopt his suggestions to visit the plantations during the present weather. FINANCIAL. Accounts amounting to .£ll7 2a 2d were passed for payment. Mr Allison read an; estimate of the probable receipts and expenditure for the ensuing year. Notice was given that a rate of seven sixty-fourths of a penny in the £ on land classified as Class 1, and five sixty-fourths of a penny in the £ on Class 2 be struck at the next meeting. A report drafted by the Joint Committees, viz., Works and Finance, was read and considered. They_ recommended that JEBOO be appropriated for works during the year, and that an expert’s report he obtained as to the reclassification of the districts. The report was received. This concluded the business.
