ROAD BOARDS.
AVON. The ordinary meeting of the Board was held on Sept. 16; present—Messrs Cochrane, Horner, King, and Patterson. Mr King was voted to the chair.—-Correspond-ence was read :—From Mr J. M'Lean, asking permission to erect a small landing stage on the bank of the Avon, New Brighton. Granted conditionally.—From Mr J. T. Matson, re the state of the side channels on ths Papanui road. To be informed that instructions bad been given that new levels be taken, and the side-channels re-graded.—From Mr W. Eeece, asking that some improvements may be made to the Bottle Lake road. The Clerk to reply that a contract had been let to shingle a portion of the road, and that other improvements would he taken into consideration.—From Mr C. Baynes re sand-hole on the unformed road leading to his house. New Brighton. The Surveyor to arrange.—The Surveyor’s report was approved.—Mr J. Delamain to be allowed to erect gates on the Ferry road (to the Board’s satisfaction). —The Clerk to wait on Mr C. Clark, re conveyance of strip of land on Stnnmore road, Eichmond. Kcsolved —“That in the event of those interested contributing 50 per cent of the cost of concrete kerbing and channelling in Papanui, and the Eiccarton Eoad Board 25 per cent, the work be put in hand; the Selwyn County Council to ho asked for a grant towards the widening and maintenance of the Canal Eeserve road.” —The yearly estimates were read, when consideration was deferred until tne next meeting of the Board, each member to be supplied with a copy.—After passing accounts for payment, the meeting terminated.
