SACRED CONCERT.

THE ST ASAPH STREET CHURCH. ; The United Methodist Free Church, St Asaph street, was crowded last night, when ; a grand vocal and instrumental sacred concert was given in aid of the debt extinction 1 fund. Mr A. Corrick was the conductor, and deserves very great credit for the excellence of the performance. The choir numbered about fifty vocalists, and the accompaniments were played by an orchestra consisting of about ten performers. An apology was made for the absence of Mr Davis Hunt, who was to have presided at the organ, but whose place was ably supplied by Miss Corrick. The principal number in the concert waa Weber’s Mass in G, the choruses in which were given with much accuracy, and the solos by Miss A. S. Taylor, who sang the florid music with her usual delightful execution; Mesdames A. Corrick and C. M. Gray, whose resonant contralto voices did full justice to the composition j Mr J. Piischell, to whom waa allotted the tenor, and Mr Halley the bass. Both gentlemen were quite at home with the music. The other solo singers during the evening were Mr H. M. Johnson, who gave "Then Shall the Righteous ShineMr Martin, who gave the air in Sullivan’s “ I will Sing of Thy Power;” Miss Allen, who took the soprano solo in the Prayer from “ Mose in Egitto;** and Miss Seales, who gave the solo in Allen’s “In the Beginning was the Word.” Several of the solos were redemanded, amongst them being, “ Oh, Best in the Lord” (Mrs C. M. Gray), “From Mighty Kings” (Miss A. S. Taylor), “He was Despised” (Mrs A. Corrick), and “If with all Tour Hearts" (Mr Piischell). However, only the last of them was repeated. A duet, “Evening.” sung by Mrs C. M. Gray and Mr J. Piischell, was a noteworthy number in the programme. Before the concert closed, the Rev Pastor of the church proposed the usual votes of thanks.
