LAND BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Canterbury Land Board was held yesterday; present— Messrs Baker (Chief Commissioner), M‘Millan, O'Callaghan, and Lee. The following sales were effected : Thirty acres, Ashburton County, Samuel Wright; deferred payment, section No. 785, Arowhenua, Eagan Williams; deferred payment, section No. 14, reserve 1824, Frederick T. Johnstone; deferred payment, sections Nos. 1G and 18, reserve 1840, Fairlie Creek. William Hall; deferred payment, section No. 7, same reserve, Bernard Connor. Mr Stokes, on behalf of hie sen, applied to know whether the Board would grant* an application for two or three sections in the village settlement of Annat. He was informed that such an application could not be entertained, aud that the Board would not recommend the further grouping of any of the sections still remaining unapplied for in chat settlement. The Board agreed to the diversion of a road through Mr Wright’s section 29819, as recommended by the A shburton County Council and Eangitata Road Beard. An application for grazing run No. 91, Hunter river, was received from Mr Allison, who stated that he would destroy the rabbits thereon, upon the Government rendering assistance in destroying those on the portions of the run which are unfit for occupation. The application was refused. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs M’Millan and O’Callaghan daring the session of Parliament. The remainder of the business was of a routine nature.
