REVENUE AND POSTAL RETURNS.

[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 31. The revenue collected by the Postal Department during last quarter was £56,480, of which £11,999 came from General Post Office. Receipts from telegrams was £28,604, and value of Government messages was £6891. Amount of deposits in Savings Banks for the same quarter was £325,591 ; withdrawals, £327,565. In both instances showing a decrease on the accounts for the 1886 quarter. The largest deposits were in Christchurch and Dunedin. £10,420 worth of postal notes were sold during the same period, yielding commission of £192, The imports amounted to £1,715,258, as against £1,964,948 [for the corresponding period last year. The exports were £2,775,752, as against £2,481,494. The gold export was as follows : Quantity. Value.
