PARLIAMENT OUT OF SESSION.
THE WEST COAST MEMBERS. [Per Press Association.] GREYMOUTH, April 19. Mr Guinness, M.H.R., has been addressing his constituents in the outlying districts during the past week. He held four meetings in various places, receiving at each a vote of thanks and confidence. He declared himself a Government supporter for being the first Government that really endeavoured to promote the interests of the goldfields. Mr Seddon, M.H.R., • addressed two meetings of his constituents at Dillmanstown and Kumara. He was satisfied with the support he gave the Government last session, but he sharply criticised the way they disclosed their policy piecemeal, and the inconsistency of the statements of the Premier and the Treasurer. He said he was a “ Pairtrader,” and would oppose representation by population alone. Nelson and the West Coast required special representation. He strongly favoured the resumption of land if required by the people, the same as if it were wanted for public works. He received a vote of thanks and confidence at each meeting.
