THE FLOODS IN WESTLAND.
GKEYMOUTH, Apkil 0. It was only to-night that the steamers were able to get out since Sunday, owing to the high flood and strong fresh in the river. A good deal of damage has been done to the bridges throughout the County, the most serious being the main Grey Bridge, jointly maintained by'the Grey and Inangahua Counties. One pier was first washed away, two more canted oyer, and about 130 ft twisted out of position. A telegram to-night says the bridge’ is m a highly dangerous position, and may cant over at any moment. Waggons are fording the river, the bridge being not passable and closed to traffic. The cost of repanamg the damage was first estimated but it will probably cost more now, andtbe County is in a highly impecunious states
