FOOTBALL.

The East Christchurch Club played a Fifteen against the Club on Saturday, the latter at one time being represented by about thirty players. After a good game the Club won by a goal and two tries to nil. Good play was shown by Roberts (late Poneke), Scott (Kaiapoi's best forward last season), Hassal, Hobbs (2), Stevenson, Bush, Plunket, Forbes, Blanchard, Booth, Craddock, Dow, Dunlop, Hinge, Taylor, and several others. lies, who played for Sydenham a season or two back, and afterwards for Invercargill, did good work until a severe kick on the hand compelled him to retire. The Club notify that practices will be held at Lancaster Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays after 5 o’clock, and members are requested to turn up as inter-Club matches commence shortly. The Christchurch Club played a scratch game on Saturday, at which there was a large muster. The form shown gives promise of a successful season. Bond, at three-quarter back, played exceedingly well, and in this department will be a valuable addition to the Club. Members are requested to attend regularly at practice on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Richmond v. St Albans School.— The former won by 25 points to nil. The scorers were:—Price, G.
