M AREIOTT AND Co.-s Advice to All — STUDY ECONOMY, Kh!e,P WARM, AND M&fCB YOURSELF COMFORTABLE. This can bo accomplished by using Gas Coke for Fuel in preference to Coal. It has the following advantages:— It is made from the best Greymoutb, Westport, and Newcastle Coals, and contains little sulphur, ash, or water, as, by extracting the gas from the Coal, the fulpbnr is expelled, therefore, its principal constituent is carbon. It yields a more intense heat than coal, and, being deprived of a great portion of sulphur and vo’atifo constituents, it obviates the unpleasant smell emitted by the combastion of coal. It will not become caked and pasty like coal, but will make a beautiful clean glowing fire. By using coke your chimneys, flues, cooking utensils, grates, ranges, irons, &c, are kept comparatively clean, free from smoke, soot, and other impurities, so objectionable in coal. The following are the prices delivered to any part of the city and suburbs of Christchurch: —1 ton of 24 bags, £1 J2r; J-ton of 18 hairs, £1 4s 3d ; t-tonof 12 bags, 16s 61; t-tou of 6 bags, 8s 9d; per bag, Is 6d; kindling firewood, per bag.
