DRAINAGE BOARD.
A special meeting of the Christchurch ; District Drainage Board was held at 8 p.nu ■yesterday, when a resolution striking a rate of |d in the £ for Christchurch Ifor the year ending Dec. 31, 1886, was rconfirmed. The members present were Messrs F. de C. Malet (Chairman), A. B. G. gEhodes, F. S. Malcolm, J. H. Hewitt, S. Panning, F. H. Barns, and W. H. osking. W; An apology for non-attendance was Received from Mr’W. Vincent. Mr W. Fiesher interviewed* the Board, mid drew attention to the necessity for prodding better drainage for certain land at Richmond. ' 1 g.After some conversation, the Engineer pms requested to form an approximate intimate of the cost of the work required Mr Fiesher. S ~On the motion of Mr Barns, seconded by |S||r Hewitt, the Board went into Committee |t§ consider certain financial matters. I fOn resuming, it was reported that/prohaded the Board got power from ParliaEinent to anticipate its revenue to the fektent of a year’s income, a banking [institution was prepared to take over the [Board’s account at once on favourable Iferms; and that the Board, had decided jihat, in the event of such powers being obtained, the account would be transferred |ott.t institution
