An extraordinary ca«e of cruelty by boys was tried in November at Bieex, England. Five boys, all under twelve years of age, naa gone into a field where there, weretburteen fteers on pasture, and tying the tails of the animals together they chased them up and down, the " fun »lasting half-aabour or more. The result was that portions of seven tails were wrenohed off, and the next morning the prosecutor's attention was drawn to the state of the animals by seeing a white tail fastened to a black beast. It was then found that the tails of four of the steers were bleeding, ft portion «f the flesh and bones having been torn away. The boys vera severely reprimanded and fined lOt 6d each, in&luaing costs.
