In the House of Commons last night, the debate on the Address in Reply was resumed, when an amendment was introduced by Mr O’Connor, setting forth that the prevailing distress in Ireland should receive the immediate attention of the Government. His amendment was rejected, after some discussion, and the Address in Reply was finally adopted as originally framed.

ANARCHISM IN SPAIN.

Colonial breadstuffs, and tallow, are without quotable ohan'^c. At to-day’s wool auction, 12,100 bales wore catalogued. There was a good demand, but enquiry was made mostly for Port Philip wools. Since the opening of the series, 6200 bales have been, withdrawn from sale, out of a total of about 97,000 catalogued.

At to-day’s sales, scoured merino wool showed an advance of a halfpenny per lb on December closing rates. Oross-breds and inferior medium and greasy wools were a halfpenny below other sorts.
