WEATHER AT LEESTON.

' j Our correspondent writes-The past month ha* been free from the usual equjnwstisl giles, and contrast! singularly with September, ; 1878, in the absence of strong gales from! the horth'-weSt. It has; been a favourable month for agricultural work, and likewise for the growth of crops.'' ’ Cattle' are luxuriating in the abundance bfgrass.m the fields ; and apparently there are good, prospects of haring an abundant harvest in this'part of jibe County of Selwyn., Rain has fallen on eight days, somewhat copiously on the 21st Und 22nd. It was very frosty on the 11th, 12th, and. 13th, and somewhat foggy on the 17th and 1 25th. In' the moraiog the north-fest ; winds prevailed, but in the .afternoons the south-east. The barometerhas ranged somewhat extreme, as high a* 30.70 on the I2th and2B.B6onthe 30th. The thermometer inithe shade has, maintained a very even condition. Can anyone give information if itiessr rains when the wind is in the north in New Zealand?
