That the said lands shall** vested in end held by the said Commissioners bm their successors upon trust as a site for a drill shsd and other purposes in connection therewith for the use of the sere tal corps of different arms ol the Canterbury Volunteers with power to the soJAbody corporate to provide for the maintenance Aid repair of buildings > now being upon the saldlihdl used as a drill shed or iu connection therewith and for the erection and maintenance of buildings Me a like purpose. With power to the said body oorporateto lease such portions of the said jp*ds as may not be required tor such purpose* and to apply rents and moneys received from such leases towards the maintenance and erection of such buildings and generally iu and towards the support and encouragement of the Volunteer corps within the said Provincial District. And with power to the said body corporate to borrow on the security of .the rents and profits of the lands'so leated any sum of money not exceeding the sum of five thousand pounds to be applied in and towards the erection and maintenance ol buildings upon the for Volunteer purposes hut the lender or der d®v* ore not to have any power of sale over the said lands nor over anything save the rents issues and profits qt the portions of the lands so leased, .
