Id STAMP DUIIIiS, There are four schedules to the Act, The first contains the duties on deeds and other instruments relating to transactions between living persons; tlio second, the duties on probates ot' wills and letters of administration j the third, the duties on legacies and successions to personal estate under any testamentary disposition or upon intestacy; the fourth, duties on successions to real and personal estate. Schedule I. Agreement, or minute or memorandum of an agreement, under hand ouly whero the matter thereof shall be of tho value of £2O or upwards— Is. Bills of oxehange (inland) for every £SO or fractional part of £6o—la. Bilk of oxehange drawn out of the colony, but indorsed or negotiated within the colony tho samo duty as on an inland bill of the same amount and tenor. Foreign bills, if drawn singly or otherwise than in a set of two or more, the same duty us on an inland bill. If drawn in sets of two, Gil, or if in soli of three 4d, for every £SO or fractional part of £SO. Promissory notes (other than payable on demand) not exceeding £2o—od; oxceeding .£2o and not oxceeding £so—ls; and so on, Is for overy £SO and fractional part of £SO, Promissory notes, payable on demand, issued by any bank in New Zealand, aro exempt from these duties, banks being otherwise chargeable. Bills of lading or receipt in liou thereof from tho master, mate or agent of any vessel for goods carried beyond the colony—ls. Conveyances of any kind, except transfer expressly provided for by tho Act, for every £SO or fractional part of £SO of tho purchase money—ss Crown grants and corlilieatos of titlo granted under the hand of tho Kegistrar-Gencral pursuant o the Land licgistry Act 1800, ave exempt from these duties. Deeds or instruments of any kind whatever not otherwise charged in this schedulo—los. Exemptions from the preceding duties.—All instruments relating to the son'icoa of apprentices, clerks, or servants; all bonds or mortgages, whothcr affecting real or personal estate, bills of sale by way of mortgage, and all transfers, agreements, releases, re-conveyances and discharges thereof; all preferable liens under the Wool and .Oil Securities Act, 1858; all customs bonds; all administration bonds; all bonds on appointment of special baililfs.
