WELLINGTON.
By the arrival of the Uira, we have received psr favor of the agents, papers to last Saturday, the 24th inst. They are, however, hut a continued edition of their predecessors, tilled with personal vituperation, and political abuse and recrimination.
From some unexplained cause the official state of the poll for the election of Superintendent -was not returned. The return was postponed until Monday, 2nd Aug. The Oriental Bank was giving 2 per cent, interest on current accounts, which the public hailed as a most favorable result of competition. It was said the Union Bank would follow the example. Mr. Ferguson and Mr. Carter were candidates for the Ahuriri seat in the House of Representatives, vacated by Mr. "V. Smith.
