Gentlemen, — The Honorable James Stuart Wortley, having resigned his seat in the General Assembly, I beg to offer myself as a candidate for your suffrages. I am aware that I have no past services to record to justify me in taking this step, but haviug resided amongst you for about three years, the least I can say is that I am no stranger to you. If you think fit to elect me as your representative, I will pledge myself to attend the sittings of the Assembly ; and when there, I will use my best abilities, regardless of personal considerations, to promote the welfare and interest of the colony, and of this province in particular.
