"W'aihi Borough Council's resolution uprging the Government not to sell lie State Coal Mine (also that the Government should acquire ( |a| coalimino in tlie North Island) was received (on the motion of the mayor seconded by Councillor •Lancaster). GASLIGHT AMD ELECTRICITY. application, was recelived from Mrs Wooding for the enlargement of the water supply pipe to' her property in Levin. (Mrs Wooding is desirous of supplying electric light to her premises, the gas mains not being available at Mrs iWooding's, and an expenditure of £25 being necessary to ■xtend the mains that far, which was deemed to be too expensive. Councillor (Mackenzie said it waa possible another house would' go up in the street, and then tlie gas mains would he extended. Perhaps to grant the application now would be to put he applicant to expense that would go for nothing when the mains were extended. Councillor Ryder/ doubted if the suggested 8-bours' generation would' be sufflfcient to sii.pply power. The application was left over for future consideration. '
