The main forces of Boers are within a quadrilateral area bounded by lino, drawn from Beaufort West to De Arr thence to Stormburg, by Queenstown to Beaufort West. They are split up into numerous bodies of from 10 to 150. Another group is iu the Herschel and Aliwal North districts just south of
Orange River, while a smaller collection is situated in the west. Hie farmers everywhere support the enemy. Duplessia, u Boer, has been arrested for murdering Lieut. Meumeyer iu the Rouxville district in 1900. Van Ram, who is a member of the Cape Legislature, together with several farmers at Van Ryusdorp, have been arrested for treason during the invasion of Capo territory last January. Ihey were admitted to bail. A commandant, near Krugersdorp, offered to send to the British camp female relations to recent surrenderors. The offer was accepted as they were lacking provisions. A commando, with 2 guns, entered Portugeses territory at Guauetz Eight hundred Portugese troops are demandin'; their surrender.
