IN MEMORIAM.
P. 11. BAIRD. Not honoured age we mourn, or tender youth, But one cut down in manhood's lusty prime, Ere care his brow had furrowed, or time His locks had silvered. Scarce the awful truth We fully realise, so sudden fell The cloud of sorrow on that happy home. Our hearts are full for dear ones left—the well Of pity overflows—could comfort come Through human sympathy, their load were light. A son most dutiful, a brother kind And nobly true, a firm and faithful friend He ever was. Long shall we miss his bright And sunny smile. Well may we truly say, " Ho was a man of more than ordinary clay." —J. Allan. Tlmrlby, April 12, 1900.
