OBITUARY.

"When the sad news of the death of Mr R. H. Baird became known throughout the dist:ict, the greatest sympathy prevailed for the relatives in their irreparable loss. Mr Baird took a lively interest in every movement for the advancement of the district. He was a trustee of the Arrow District Hospital for a considerable period, and latterly chairman, and in both capacities he fulfilled the duties appertaining thereto faithfully and well. At the meeting of the Hospital Board on Saturday, the members referred to the great loss the institution had sustained by the death of the chairman of the Board, and it was decided that a letter of condolence, signed by all the trustees, be sent to Mrs Baird. The deceased gentleman was 8 prominent member of the Arrow and Lake County Jockey Clubs, and his genial face well be much missed at the future gatherings. He was ever ready to make liberal responses for the success and maintenance of any good cause, and above all He was a man, take him all in all. His remains were interred in the Frankton Cemetery on Saturday last, the Rev. A. D. Mitchell conducting the funeral service. On his grave were placed many wreaths as a silent tribute to the memory of a genial man, a friend in need, and a good and affectionate son. r
