Mining News.

The return from the Try Fluke for the month is 187oz. The Waitekauri crushed 1702 tons for the month, with a result of £929 worth of gold. Both are Auckland mines.

The Taieri Advocate says that a reef has been discovered on part of run 51, about six miles from Berwick, the ground being held under lease from the Government by Mr J. Lawson. An assay of the stone made by Mr M'Adam of the Bank of New Zealand, gave, with ordinary stamper treatment, a return of 2oz 4dwta to the ton, though it was estimated that, on account of the roughness of the treatment, fully 20 per cent, of the gold was lost. The reef, which can be clearly traced, is 4ft wide, and extends from one end of the field to the other. Messrs Donald Campbell (the discoverer of the reef) and William Orossan, of Berwick, have applied for a special claim of 100 acres. Rumour hath it that the Electric dredge is returning about 20oz per day this last eight or nine days.—Dunstan Times.

Dredge returns ;—The return from the Sew Hoy Big Beach Go. is 20oz 4dwt of gold.—The Enterprise dredge, Alexandra, got 13oz l9dwts.-—Otago Gold Drqdging Co. obtained 18oz.
