I sek in a letter to the Wellington Post a publican says:—" The only way I can suggest by which prohibited person may be made known to hotelkeepers is to take the persons round to every publican in the prohibited districts, and make the latter sign a book certifying that he has seen the person. I have about .25 prohibition orders in my bar, and I know about three of the
persons they refer to. I may be serving the other 22 every day.” ♦ i A new method of balloting for Crown lands is described in the last Gazette. All applications are to be numbered in order of receipt, and the first ball I drawn from the box decides the owner ship of the lana, as it will bear one of tha rotation numbers. The regulations are still defective in- that they do not set forth who is to take the ball out of ’ the box. This should be defined. The now method is, however, “ sudden death,” and should put an end to some queer allegations as to what was possible under the old want-of-system.
It is rumored that Mr Thomas Mackenzie, of the Olutha, is to have an opponent in the person of the Rev. John Riley, formerly minister of Port Chalmers, and no w in business as a miller..
The Hon. Thomas Fergus is mentioned as a probable candidate at the next general election for the City of Dunedin, and, if true, he should have a good- chance of being returned.

Two dases of it settled the matter and cured him sound and' w<-11. I heartily recommend this remedy to all persons suffering from a like complaint. I .vill answer any inquiries regarding it when atatnp is inclosed. I refer to any county official as to my reliability. Wni. Roach, J. P., Primroy, Campbell Co., Tenn. For sale by Robert Pritchard.
