[REUTER'S TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. >—< A CHINESE IMPERIAL EDICT AGAINST THE FRENCH. GREAT EXCITEMENT AT THE TREATY PORTS. COURBET READY TO ATTACK THE CHINESE FLEET. (Received October 2, 0.55 a.m.) Hong-Kong, September 30.
Intelligence is received here that an Imperial edict has been issued ordering the Governor of Canton to publish a proclamation to encourage the people to fight against the French. The edict also forbids the poisoning of food supplied to foreigners. Great excitement is reported to exist among Chinese natives, especially at the treaty ports.

London, September 29. Admiral Courbet has announced that he is ready to make an attack on the Chinese fleet.
The French have searched two British trading vessels at Formosa.
