(Dinna gut your fish till ye get them.) 5. Kei te aituatanga ka tino mohiotia nga takahoa. (Friends are best known in distress.) 6. Katohia he punitanita, a, maharatia nga tara. (Gather thistles, expect prickles.) 7. Kite kopi te waha kaore e tomokia e te ngaro. (A close mouth catcheth no flies.) 8. Kaore e tatu te mauri o te tangata koroiroi. (A crafty man's ne'er at peace.) 9. Ma te tangata kotahi e arataki te hoiho kite wai, a, ekore te rua te kau tangata e kaha kite whakainu. Ae man may lead a horse to water, but twenty winna gar him drink.) 10. Kaore e wheau ka mawehe te heahea raua ko tana moni. (A fool and his money are soon parted.) 11. Muri mai o te tupuhi, ka tau te paki. (After a storm comes a calm.) 12. Pai ake te ingoa pai i te nui taonga. (A good name is better than, riches.)
