Ekore te kuri matapo e tau atu kite marama. 4. Ko te rupahu raua ko te hori ka tuakana, ka teina ki a raua. 5. Ko te ifei kai i te ata, pai atu i te kore kai i te roa o te ra. 6. Ko te manu e mau ana i te ringa, hira ake i nga manu erua e rere atu ana. 7. Kore he tikanga kite matapo, o tenei hanga o te pukapuka 8. Ahakoa taimaha te wahanga, mama noa kite tangata e minamina ana ki tera hanga. 9. Taeanoatia e te ngeru te titiro atu kite Kingi. 10. He maramara no ta pororakau tawhito. 11. Kite marama te whakaaro, kaore e oho kite ngutu whakapae. 12. Kite kopi te waha, kaore e tomo atu te ngaro. Na Tawhiao tenei whakatauki:—" Ka whakapapa-pounamu te moana, ka terete karohirohi. This saying of Tawhiao's was embodied in his speech to His Excellency Sir W. Jervois on the Ist April, 1884, and its rendering is "When the sea becomes calm as the polished greenstone, the atmospheric signs will be in motion.
