AUCKLAND BATTING. WALLACE NEAR CENTURY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, this day. At the luncheon interval Auckland had scored 167 runs for the loss of one wicket in their match with the M.C.C. The match, owing to the rain, was not resumed until a quarter past 12. At 12.30 129 runs had been compiled. Yesterday also the game had been badly interfered with by rain, Auckland' scoring 109 for the loss of one wicket in the 95 minutes of play. There was an adjournment during the morning of 10 minutes owing to a heavy shower. Rain fell during the luncheon adjournment but the weather cleared and played was commenced according to schedule at 1.45 p.m. After 15 minutes’ play on the resumption heavy rain set in and made further play for the day impossible. On both days the difficult wicket troubled the batsmen. The following are the latest results to hand:— AUCKLAND.—First Innings. J. E. Mills, c Griffith, b .. 1 P. E. Whitelaw, not out 61 W. M.
