34-MILE RACE

WIN FOR WATSON. The largest race ever promoted by the Te Kuiti Cycle Club was run last Saturday over a 34-mile course. Nine riders faced the starter in the contest, which was also the last of the club's road racing season. ■ The first place and the. coveted McCormack medal was secured by D. Watson, the scratch rider, who completed the run in the good time of 92m. 45 sees. Watson caught the field about Ormsby's orchard, and came through strongly to finish 15 seconds in front of G. Irvine, who started off 9m. 45 sees, handicap. Both L. Gyde and R. Harford held 21 points before the race for the Boles Cup, the trophy for the most points gained in the club's races throughout the season.
